Sotto’s staff leads IEC on anti-drug law

PAGADIAN CITY: Senator Vicente “Tito” C. Sotto III sent his staff here the other week to lead the lectures to policemen regarding the amendments in the anti-drugs law.

City Police Chief Supt. Glenn Dulawan said former PDEA undersecretary and lawyer Clarence Paul Oaminal arrived here for the Information Education Campaign (IEC) on RA 10640.

Known as the Sotto amendment, as contained in RA 10640, which revised Section 21 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, was signed into law by President Benigno Aquino III last July, 2014.

Oaminal hopes the new knowledge learned by policemen will draw positive results.

The lawyer also lauded the provincial government for supporting the campaign against the illegal drugs through the creation of Anti-Illegal Drugs Task Force and providing funds to their operations.

Aside from the PNP, members of the Provincial and City Anti-Illegal Drugs Task Force, other law enforcement agencies and media members attended the lecture.

Dulawan said he also happy for the update.
