LTO reminds car owners of plate-standardization program



ZAMBOANGA CITY: The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has reminded vehicle owners to change their car plates in compliance to the plate standardization program.


LTO Reg. Dir. and lawyer Aminola Abaton said that old plate numbers of vehicles are replaced with new ones upon the renewal of registration in line with the standardization program.

According to the LTO, 56,000 units of four-wheel vehicles and 180,000 units of motorcycles are set to be replaced in the Region 9 alone.

LTO-9 covers this city and the provinces of Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.

Production cost payment for standard plate numbers are P450 for four-wheel vehicles and P150 for motorcycles.

Abaton added the new standard plate number has a security feature, is tamper-proof and includes the place where the vehicle was registered.
