DOH to deploy 200 nurses in Zampen

PAGADIAN CITY: The DOH-Center for Health and Development Zamboanga Peninsula (DOH-CHDZP) will deploy starting this month some 200 nurses in the province.

This deployment is under DOH’s program of Nurse Deployment Project (NDP) 2015 aimed in putting up nursing care to Zamboanga del Sur.

DOH-CHDZP officer-in-charge Ulysses Jose Briones said this project aims to improve local health system that will support the country’s attainment of  “Kalusugan Pangkalahatan,” a universal health care which supports the Millenium Development Goals (MDG).

The health official also said in a PIA report that these nurses were among those who were recruited and selected last year and decided to renew their contract for another year of service.

A team of community health panel composed of BHWs, BNS, Pantawid Pamilya leaders and barangay kagawads will monitor and assess the health risk of the families identified in a DSWD-conducted program.

One nurse will handle an average of 20 households and regularly monitor the health of these families, particularly the children and pregnant women for the whole year.
