BFP to give more importance to fire prevention

ZAMBOANGA CITY: The fire department here said firefighters will put their center of attention to efforts on prevention in an attempt to lower the number of fire incidents and property damages in this city.


The BFP said they won accolades for their successful undertaking last year in creating public awareness that resulted in fire incidents decline that they want to replicate it this year.

It can be learned that BFP data showed only 99 fire incidents in 2014 compared to the 110 cases registered the previous year.

Fire Marshal Supt. Dominador Zabala Jr. said the decline in the number of fire incidents goes with the lessened property damages caused by fire to P108 million in 2014 from P192 million in 2013.

Zabala said fire prevention information and education campaign, especially in different schools and in the barangays will be their year-round mission for 2015.

The BFP said important lectures that tackle on fire exit and evacuation drills and fire prevention will be given by them, with the help of all fire sub-stations in their respective localities.
